‘Bagga’ man jailed for illegally having shotgun and bullets at home

A Barrouallie man was sentenced to prison for three years after police caught him with a shotgun under his bedding, and eight rounds of ammunition lying around the house.

Demran Bobb, 27, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate, Colin John, on September 16,2025 where he was sentenced for possessing one firearm and eight rounds of 12 gauge ammunition without a license issued under the Firearms Act.

The facts are that on September, 9, 2025 about 4:15 a.m, CPL 778 Williams was among a party of Rapid Response Unit and Narcotics personnel in Barrouallie executing a search warrant at Bobb’s home, in respect of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

On arrival, CPL Williams opened the front door, which was not secured, after receiving no response while knocking.

When he entered the house, Williams saw Bobb lying on a bed covering and appeared to be sleeping.

CPL Williams touched his leg and identified himself and the party of police officers. He read and showed Bobb a search warrant, then informed him of their duties.

The officers, whom Bobb gave consent to search his room, found what appeared to be 12-gauge ammunition on the bedding where Bobb was sleeping.

After the ammunition was shown to him, CPL Williams pointed out the offence of unlicensed ammunition to Bobb and cautioned him.

Bobb replied, “Officer me nah know way that be”.
