Ministry of Health to get more dialysis machines
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, is to obtain three more Heamodialysis machines as part of the revolution in the healthcare sector. Minister of Health, St Clair Prince said their acquisition is expected to reduce the strain on the Modern Medical and Diagnostic Centre in Georgetown.
In an interview with the Agency for Public Information (API), Minister Prince said the machines will be placed at the Evesham Health Centre, providing Heamodialysis to patients in the Marriaqua district and surrounding areas.
Currently 71 patients are receiving Heamodialysis treatment free of cost at the Modern Medical and Diagnostic Centre. The cost to the government for provision of this service is around $ 75,000 dollars per year, per patient which amounts to $5 million.(API)
