GHS and Grammar School outperform themselves at CXC
Not only did the St Vincent Girls’ High School and the St Vincent Grammar School top the country in the May/June, 2025 Caribbean Examinations Council Secondary Education Certificate Examinations (CSEC), they also attained the highest average in the schools’ recent history.
GHS, which topped the examinations in St Vincent and the Grenadines for another consecutive year, averaged 98.92 per cent passes, while the St Vincent Boys’ Grammar School attained a 94.86 per cent pass rate.
Though GHS is known for its dominating performance in the examinations, the only years that the school has ever averaged 98 per cent in recent history were in 2023, when it attained 98.84; 2015 with 98.3; and 2013 with 98.84.
The Grammar School, that usually scores an average in the low 90s and high 80s, managed to almost graze 95 per cent passes this year. The closest that the school has ever scored this high in recent history was in 2016 with 94.54; also in 2015 with 94.49; in 2013 with 94.5; and in 2009 with 94.7 per cent.
Headmaster of the St Vincent Boys’ Grammar School, Hugh Colin Sam said they have been tracking the school’s performance in CSEC for 15 years and the staff is “elated” and “happy” with this year’s results.
“We saw a lot of improvement in most of the subjects. We also saw an improvement in the quality of the passes. We have a lot of Grades ones and twos…” he told SEARCHLIGHT.
