Republic Bank signs new Collective Agreement with Union
THE COMMERCIALTECHNICAL AND ALLIEDWORKERS UNION (CTAWU), and Republic Bank St.Vincent and the Grenadines branch, have inked a new three-year collective agreement after negotiations which the union’s General secretary, Joseph Burns Bonadie, said were “cordial and very fruitful for both parties”.
“We have a very good relationship with the bank, and it took a little while because of course, you had the Hurricane Beryl, you had this, you had that, so we did the negotiation virtually,” Bonadie told SEARCHLIGHT at the August 18, 2025 signing, without disclosing details.
“Shop stewards here, they are the workers who represent the bank, and before we agreed on anything, we look for endorsement from the members. We got the final go-ahead, and now we’re signing.”
He said the two sides were honest with each other and dismissed claims that the local economy was not doing well.
“I’m not living in Mars…I’m living in St.Vincent and the Grenadines. The bank provided a lot of assistance during the period after the passage of Hurricane Beryl, not only to staff, but generally to persons outside the bank,” Bonadie noted.
