50 engaged in Coast Guard 2025 Youth Summer Programme
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard Service launched their annual Youth Development Summer Programme on Monday, July, 14 2025 at the Calliaqua Town Hall. This year, 50 young people are engaged in the programme, which has as its theme: ‘Shaping Our Youths for Life’s High Seas’.
The programme aims to help the young participants learn to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead with confidence, responsibility and resilience, the SVG Coast Guard told the Agency for Public Information (API).
They will be engaged in courses designed to equip them with essential life skills.
These include First Aid with Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) being highlighted; Fundamentals of Maritime Navigation; Boat Handling; Fisheries Conservation; Human Sexuality; as well as workshops on conflict resolution, and etiquette.
Petty Officer, Sasha Martin said the participants are expected to uphold a high standard of discipline, respect and responsibility throughout the duration of the programme.
The 2025 summer programme is being sponsored by the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG); Sagicor Life; and the SVG Port Authority.
The Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG) has made an input of $6,000 to the Coast Guard Youth Development Summer Programme; the SVG Port Authority contributed $3,000. (API)
