NDP gives cash to Southern Grenadines students on Beryl Anniversary

President of the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP), Dr Godwin Friday and Member of Parliament for the Southern Grenadines Constituency, Terrance Ollivierre, on Monday June, 30, 2025, visited schools in the Southern Grenadines, where they distributed cash awards to students who completed their CSEC and CAPE exams, one day ahead of the anniversary of the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

“This has been one of the most challenging years in living memory for the people of the Southern Grenadines following the devastating destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl,” a release from the NDP quotes Dr Friday as stating.

“Despite these hardships, these students have shown remarkable resilience in continuing their education and worked tirelessly during the academic year.”

For his part, MP Terrance Ollivierre spoke to the commitment of the students during their time of displacement.

“The commitment and dedication demonstrated by these students are truly inspiring and serve as a shining example across St Vincent and the Grenadines. We also pay a special tribute to the parents, families, teachers and the community who have supported you over the past year, in the most trying circumstances,” Ollivierre stated.

The release noted that the initiative underscores the NDP’s ongoing commitment to supporting the people of the Southern Grenadines in their recovery efforts following the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July, 1, 2024.
