Police chief tells officers to comply with traffic laws

It appears that civilians are not the only ones finding themselves on the wrong side of the traffic laws of St Vincent and the Grenadines, as a warning has also been issued to police officers about the need to comply.

The words of caution came from Commissioner of Police (Acting), Enville Williams, during a rally to close out the activities for Road Safety Week 2025 on Friday, May 30, 2025.

Commissioner Williams said persons who are abusing road traffic regulations also include the people responsible for enforcing the laws.

“Too often in our society, drivers take it upon themselves to abuse the rules of the road, and I must daresay that police officers are also guilty of abusing the road traffic regulations,” he pointed out.

“A very clear case in point happened a few moments ago with a cyclist rode down the wrong way and the cyclist is a police officer. The rules are there for us to observe and not for us to break wantonly. I want to appeal therefore to motorists and pedestrians to continue to abide by these rules.”
