Coroner’s Inquest concluded into Death of Vincentian-born lass in the UK

A Coroner’s Inquest in the United Kingdom (UK) has found that Vincentian, Judea “Bossgyal Judi” Cordice, who died by suicide was 22 weeks pregnant.

Earlier this month, Caroline Jones, Area Coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, told the inquest at Huntingdon Coroner’s Court that a post-mortem examination found Cordice’s death was as a result of hanging, and a toxicological examination found nothing significant.

Cordice, who migrated to Turkey a few years ago and later ended up in the UK, killed herself on Friday, December 13, 2024 after calling her boyfriend, soldier, Kimarie May, to tell him she was leaving the world behind.

Cordice died in her apartment shortly after the phone call to May, pushed over the edge, it was said, by the refusal of the UK government to grant her humanitarian protection which would have allowed her protection status (permission to stay as a refugee or person with humanitarian protection).

“In light of the circumstances in which Ms Cordice was found, the fact that her immigration claim had been refused, that she had previously intimated suicidal intentions, and on the basis of her last communications with her partner, I am satisfied that Ms Cordice was solely responsible for the deliberate act of placing the ligature around her neck, and that when she did so, it was with the intention of ending her life,” Jones told the inquest.

Cordice told SEARCHLIGHT back in December, 2020, that she was raped at the age of seven and beaten by a relative throughout her teenage years.

She later left St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG )for Turkey, and claimed humanitarian protection after she left Turkey and journeyed to the UK. She told her boyfriend that she did not want to return to St Vincent because people were out for her and wanted to kill her. He said her request for humanitarian protection was denied and she appealed several times, but was turned down.
