Argyle By-pass Bridge closed for upgrade

The bypass bridge at Argyle, on the road which leads to and from the Rawacou Recreation Facility, is now closed for an upgrade.

The bridge was closed on Thursday, May, 15,2025 on the advice of the Roads Buildings and General Services Authority (BRAGSA) to the Commissioner of Police, Minister of Transport and Works, Montgomery Daniel said.

Minister Daniel said on NBC Radio on Wednesday, May 13, 2025, that the metal on the bridge has suffered significant corrosion and the facility now poses a safety risk to vehicles and pedestrians alike.

As a result, BRAGSA has recommended the closure of this bridge from May, 15, until further notice.

The Minister said the necessary signs and barricades will be placed to alert the general public of the closure.

A sum of $500,000. was allocated in the 2025 budget for repair works on the bridge, and Daniel said the work is expected to begin soon.
