Leacock says poor relief is keeping PM Gonsalves in office

MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT for the Central Kingstown constituency, St Clair Leacock believes that the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) have lost their way.

“Our people have lost their way,” Leacock said last Friday, April 25, 2025, at a New Democratic Party (NDP meeting in Layou.

He was at the time speaking at the opening of the party’s Central Leeward constituency office.

Leacock, who is also a vice president of the NDP, claimed that the Prime Minister is still in government, because of poor relief.

He said that at present five thousand people are tied to the government because they receive poor relief.
