‘Slight increase’ in tuition fees for UWI Cave Hill students

Vincentian students who are heading to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus to pursue undergraduate studies will have to find some extra cash to cover a recently announced increase in tuition fees for the upcoming academic year.

Correspondence sent in March provided new and returning students of the Barbados campus with a detailed breakdown of the schedule of fees which included tuition fees at a cost of BDS $6,000 per academic year.

A subsequent email from administration informed students of the ”slight increase” for the 2023/2024 academic year for students in non-self-financed programmes in the Faculties of Culture, Creative and Performing Arts, Humanities and Education, Science and technology, and Social Sciences. Students in the Faculty of Law and Medical Sciences have not been affected by the increase.

Students, both full-time and part-time, will now be required to pay BDS$6,100 per academic year for tuition fees.

Students were reminded that they would not be able to complete the registration process for courses until registration fees were paid.

The University further informed students that the programme fees including tuition and economic cost, will be due following course registration and no later than September 15, 2023.

“Students who have arrears on their account should note that you will not be able to register for courses until you have cleared your arrears or made special arrangements with the Bursary to enable your course registration.”

According to the schedule of fees on the University’s website, economic cost for regional students remains unchanged.
