Sion Hill resident wins Set For Life grand prize draw
One ticket valued at EC$10 has paid dividends in the form of hundreds of thousands of dollars for a first-time supporter of the National Lotteries Authority’s (NLA) games.
“I didn’t expect to win. I just say let me take a gamble and purchase the ticket,” Andre Davy told SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday after collecting his Set for Life winnings at the Victoria Park. The ticket was purchase on December 17 at Heritage Square.

The Set for Life raffle was launched by the NLA last May and offered persons the chance of a first prize of a house at Lower Queen’s Drive valued at $450,000; a Sports Utility Vehicle valued at $130,000; along with $50,000 in cash. The second prize was $50,000, and third prize was $25,000. Consolation prizes of cash were also on offer.
Davy told SEARCHLIGHT that he has never played the NLA’s games and decided to take part in Set for Life because of the worthwhile prizes being offered.
“From since May, I read about the prizes: win $1000 a month; $25,000 and $50,000 and the grand prize, so I say let me take a chance…and I came out the lucky winner,” the smiling Davy explained last Tuesday.
He said his best friend and later his cousin called him and told him he had won, but he did not believe them.

“I was at home when I got the news…I was doubting…then I went and visited the live stream and I saw I had won. I was shocked, anxiety. I didn’t sleep the Friday night,” Davy said.
The draw was done on December 20.
Davy, an information communications technology technician at Eastern Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC) said he already has a vehicle but not a house (he lives with his mother Jacqueline Bailey), in Sion Hill so he is grateful for the prize.
He added that he has no children and is not married, and he is undecided if he would be moving into his new house.
“I saw the house, it’s good, but still needs fencing and some groundwork but overall I am very happy with the design and the spaciousness of the rooms,” said Davy.
The happy man said he thinks the NLA is doing a fairly good job for the Vincentian public supporting sports and culture and he wishes them the best for 2020.
“…And I will encourage the public to support the NLA in their games and their future Set for Life games. I feel good I was really shocked at the announcement in Heritage Square the night,” he commented.
