Crime sensitisation and prevention – Youth Month 2019

For the Methodist Churches in St Vincent, the month of February is calendared for Youth Month each year.

The month is geared towards fostering deeper fellowship and unity as youths in Christ and to observe the various talents and abilities present among youth. This year marks the 20th year of Youth Month of activities in the Kingstown-Chateaubelair Circuit and will be guided by the theme: ‘Limitless: Withholding Nothing’.

The launch of Youth Month 2019 will be geared towards crime sensitisation and prevention and will bring together youths from both circuits of the Methodist Church in St Vincent, along with other denominations and youth organisations. The official launch and opening takes place on Saturday February 2, 2019, starting with a march and culminating with a rally and sporting activities at the Calliaqua Playing Field where young persons will be meaningfully engaged in worship and sports. The march starts at the Calliaqua Anglican Church and through the community of Calliaqua.

At the opening rally, patrons can expect segments of Song Against Crime, led by a Methodist Worship Team; Word Against Crime, presented by Bro. Jerand Phills – a Methodist Youth Pastor; and special performances by the Rooted Methodist Dance Ministry, winners of the Best Community Group at the 2018 KCCU National Dance Festival; as well as other specially invited guests. During the day, children, youths and adults will take part in athletics, football and cricket, sports that encourage discipline, unity and team work. Fun events such as sack races, three legged-races and egg and spoon will also be featured. The all-day event is open to the general public and is free of cost. All are invited.
