Lucky escape for passengers in omnibus crash along Road to Leeward
ALL 11 PASSENGERS on an omnibus were left nursing injuries last Friday night, after the vehicle they were travelling in was in a collision with another just outside of Kingstown.
While the vehicles involved in the collision on The Road to Leeward near Massy supermarket at Stoney Ground received extensive damage, the passengers and drivers dodged any serious injuries, and there were no fatalities.
Some time after 8 p.m., when the accident was said to have occurred, the tow truck arrived to remove green omnibus, HE850, which had both of its back wheels in the gutter, and significant damage to the front, some of which was missing.
It had already removed HT710 from the scene, a black van, which was also said to have received significant damage.
Even under the cover of darkness, the destruction was apparent to onlookers, with the road covered in a thick layer of glass from the two vehicles.
Corporal 751 Williams said that investigations into the accident are ongoing.
He informed that the driver of HT710 did not complain of injuries, but all 11 passengers from HE850 were taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), complaining of a range of injuries from lacerations to fractures.
The driver of HE850 complained of injuries to his legs.
