Nine Nights of Lights at Botanic Gardens ends this Sunday

Sunday night will be the last night that persons will have to experience this year’s instalment of Nine Nights of Lights at the Botanic Gardens.

The event, which is being held for the fourth consecutive year, opened last Saturday and has featured special events each night this week.

Gordon Shallow, the curator of the Gardens said during a press conference this week that a gospel explosion was held last Sunday, a “battle of the bands” event was held on Monday and a special segment with the Upstage Calypso Tent was held on Tuesday.

He also said that Wednesday night was dedicated to “Celebrate Dance”, with the La Gracia Dance Company making a presentation.

There was a special showing of “The Grinch” on Thursday and tonight is pan night, where a group from Sion Hill will be parading through the gardens with steel pans in tow to play music.

“On the night of the 22nd, we have a drum night where we have the Rose Hall drummers…coming in. They have become a staple, a part of our Nine Nights of Lights so they will be bringing another exciting drum night again and on the 23rd, which is our last night, our closing night, we would be bringing back some of our performers who would have received a lot of good repertoire from the crowd,” the curator said.
