Three friends killed violently in separate incidents in 2018

Several residents of Rockies were, on Tuesday around 9.15 p.m., startled by gunfire, and on investigating, found a man lying in the street bleeding.

The wounded man was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) where he was identified as 36-year-old labourer Murando “Grim” Williams of Frenches.

Police say that Williams, the 14th person killed violently here this year, was walking along the Rockies public road when he was shot about his body. A resident recalled hearing as many as 17 shots.

Shortly after, reports of Williams’ death started making the rounds, and a photo of Williams, flanked by two of his friends, appeared on Facebook.

The photo evoked some emotions from persons, as what the trio have in common is that they are all dead, having met their deaths by the same means – the gun.

The other two men in the photo currently making the rounds are Collrise “Quinn” Pompey and Marcus “Mac 10” Sandy.

Pompey, 25 years old at the time of his death, was shot in Redemption Sharpes on Friday, March 2, 2018. He was shot in his face at approximately 8:30 a.m., while waiting for public transport next to the Low-Profile Bar, near the Redemption Sharpes Playing Field. He died on the spot, and went down in history as the sixth man killed here in 2018.

Sandy was shot about 10 times and killed around midnight last Thursday, July 19, in Arnos Vale. The 25-year-old Arnos Vale resident was killed while walking home.

Sandy would have celebrated his 26th birthday on October 31. He will be laid to rest this Sunday at the cemetery in Belair after a church service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fountain. Sandy is the 12th person to have died violently here in 2018.

The photo of the three has spurred a lot of speculation, where persons are asking if the deaths are related. A police source however noted that they have not been able to so far link the deaths of the men.

When contacted on Wednesday, Williams’ mother and brother refused to talk to the media. His mother said she was not in the frame of mind to talk about what happened to her son.
