Park Hill man found dead

When Park Hill resident, 42-year-old Roger Rolan Billingy, did not return home on Sunday night, his sister, Moreta Arrington, knew something was wrong.

Billingy’s body was discovered in a plantain field on Monday around 9 a.m. He was hit in the face by a single gunshot, which police say appears to have been fired from a low calibre weapon.
“When his girlfriend said he ain’t come home, I said it was strange, because he doesn’t be out so late,” Arrington told SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday morning.

She said when she heard her brother was found dead, she was overcome with emotions, mostly sadness.

“I feel so sad when I get the news. I feel so sad for him because he was a person if anybody trouble me he would curse for me, so I feel so sad for him,” Arrington reiterated, while adding that Billingy loved her daughter (his niece), Bianca very much and would usually play with the young child and buy her snacks.

“He was a cool guy. I last spoke to him on Sunday night when he played with my daughter. I don’t know why he was killed, if it was a robbery or what. He had money on him,” Arrington told SEARCHLIGHT, while adding that this is the first time the family is going through a scenario like this one and most of the family members are in shock.

She said her brother, who was also her neighbour, was a farmer and he would go into the mountains on a daily basis with his dogs and goats.

Billingy’s killing brought the country’s homicide rate to 13 so far for 2018.

Also commenting on Billingy’s death was his uncle Ascar Hooper.

“Friday, I dey home here and I heard him arguing with someone and the person ah tell um ‘you have cutlass, but me have gun’,” Hooper revealed on Tuesday, while adding that he was inside his house and doubts the two men knew he was hearing the argument.

Hooper added that he went to the mountains on Monday morning and when he returned he heard someone saying Billingy was dead. He said he confronted the man whom Billingy had the argument with and someone told him to relax.

“We were real close. It done happen and me can’t do nothing, and that’s it,” commented Hooper who added that he thinks more than one person was involved in Billingy’s killing.
