Layou family say they are imprisoned by fear
The members of a family of Layou say they have been imprisoned by fear in their home after the dwelling was shotup by unknown persons.
Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT, but too scared to give their family name, the matriarch of the family said that on Sunday, June 10 at around 9 p.m., shotgun pellets were shot into the humble dwelling when four females were at home.
“I was in the house because how thing ah go we have to shut in early, so we did shut in since 7, me and me daughter and two granddaughters 13 and 10 watching a movie,” said the woman.
The woman said that at around 9 p.m., one of her granddaughters went to the front door with her electronic tablet so that she could pick up Wi-Fi.
“One of them kick down the door already and we does put up a sheet by the top and me hear me granddaughter say, ‘Mommy look somebody ah move the thing with a piece ah stick’, so I say ‘no is wind’, so she stand up there still and she look up and she say ‘Oh God, Mommy gun ah come in look the man ah shove in the gun and he have a mask over he face’,” recalled the Layou resident who added that after her granddaughter spoke the gun was fired twice.
“…He pelt the first bullet then the second bullet and if the other granddaughter for me did get up off the floor, she been go be a dead woman. If my grandson was in he crib, he would be dead. Shots hit one the child on she foot,” said the distraught woman.
She said that someone was later detained but released without charge and she has no idea why someone would want to shoot into her home.
The woman and her family say they are now afraid to remain in the house, but they do not want to go to anyone’s home to stay so she is calling on the police to help.
“I don’t want to go in people place and sleep; we can’t even go down the road for water how we frighten,” said the woman.
