Prospect woman wins $1,000 in 2018 Best of SVG draw

Claudette Christian of Prospect is the lucky winner of $1,000 in the 2018 Best of SVG draw.

Christian’s entry in the Best of SVG campaign was drawn from a drum filled with entries at the second annual Best of SVG people’s choice awards last Sunday.

In an interview on Wednesday, Christian said that she buys newspapers every week, so she had went ahead nominating persons in the various categories and was surprised when she learned that she had won.

She said having a people’s choice award is wonderful because it gives businesses a chance to be recognised for their hard work and she thanked the organisers for the initiative.

Although she has not yet made plans for winnings, she said she is certain it would come in useful.

Only entries which had 25 or more categories filled in on the ballot sheet and which had the name, address and telephone number of the person making the nominations were entered into the draw.

Arvid Shearman from the accounting firm Grant Thornton pulled the winning ballot from the drum, in the presence of Regis Williams, a member of the audience.
