No bail for Lotto booth shooting accused as yet

One of two victims in the Heritage Square lotto booth shooting is set to undergo surgery today, and therefore the fate

of his alleged shooter

likewise hangs in the balance.

Kishron Jackson first appeared at the Serious Offences Court last Monday, charged with two counts of attempted murder, after a shooting incident at a Lotto booth in Heritage Square left two hospitalized.

Those who were shot on Thursday, March 15 at Heritage Square, and Jackson’s alleged victims, are Veron Williams of Kingstown and Errol Hinson of Enhams.

The defendant was also charged with a third offence, in that he did agree with another on March 15 that “a course of conduct shall be pursued, which if the agreement was carried out in accordance with their intention, would involve the commission of the offence of robbery.”

As he did when he first came to court, when Jackson appeared in court this Monday he used crutches to enter the dock. However, the cast that had been on his right foot had been replaced with a simple bandage.

As he did when the defendant first appeared, prosecutor Adolphus Delplesche objected to his bail. While the reason for his first objection was that both victims were still in the hospital with gunshot wounds, this week the prosecutor’s objection was solely centred around the male victim.

Delplesche informed the court that the female victim, Williams, had been discharged from the hospital. On the other hand, the male victim, Hinson, was still hospitalized, he stated, and is in fact scheduled to undergo surgery today. He described the condition of this victim as ‘still serious’ and until the court is sure of Hinson’s condition, Delplesche asked that Jackson be remanded for another week.

Therefore, Jackson will reappear for bail review next Tuesday, April 3.
