LVGS teachers extend outreach to Liberty Lodge boys
The 13 boys who are housed at the Liberty Lodge Boys Training Centre (LLBTC) will soon embark on a number of engagements, spearheaded by a group of teachers from the Lodge Village Government School (LVGS).
As part of an outreach effort of both institutions, recently, teachers from the Lodge Village Government School, including Anasha Crooks, Adina Wilma Bushay, Dalcia Hanson, Coombs, Lavette Johnson and Karen James, provided the boys of the LLBTC with lunch. It was an occasion that was welcomed by both parties.
Social skills instructor at the LLBTC Sherise Durrant expressed gratitude on behalf of the boys. Also singing the chorus of satisfaction was principal of the LVGS Kesslon Wilson, who lauded his teachers for the initiative.
âThese events are geared towards helping these boys in socialization aspects, as well as developing trust in adults, confidence in themselves and so prepare them for their imminent return to their mainstream homes,â Wilson said.
He noted that the special attachment with the LLBTS has come about because three of the boys who reside there are students of the LVGS.
The schoolâs principal revealed that other plans for the boys include the provision of slippers, taking them to church and a crayfish catching competition.
The latter, according to Wilson, will take place at Table Rock in Vermont, and will also serve as an outing for the boys.(RT)
