US Embassy hosts medical first responder subject matter expert exchange
The US Embassy, through its Military Liaison Office, facilitated a medical first responder subject matter expert exchange between Florida National Guard personnel and Royal St Vincent Police Force (RSVPF) members from February 20-23.
The purpose of this exchange was to enhance the Florida National Guard and RSVPFâs medical response capabilities through discussion and demonstration of the latest methods for providing a variety of emergency treatments in a field environment.
US Ambassador to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the OECS, Linda Taglialatela commented, âThe United States Government remains committed to hosting exchanges such as these, as security and co-operation remains a top priority for us in this region. We will continue to work with the governments, and security forces in the Eastern Caribbean to strengthen our partnerships.â
Techniques discussed covered a wide range of emergency care scenarios, including casualty movements, airway and breathing restoration, intravenous access and therapy, hypothermia prevention, and fracture management. The knowledge and experience gained from this event by both parties will enhance their interoperability for future joint operations.
