Fishing as a business workshop to cast off tomorrow

The Fisheries Division in the Ministry of Agriculture and the FAO, will tomorrow, Wednesday, February 28, host an introductory “Fishing as a Business Workshop,” for fishers and vendors.

The workshop is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, through the National Zero Hunger Challenge Initiative Action Plan of St Vincent and the Grenadines, a project which is supported by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), to implement selected activities under the Zero Hunger Challenge Initiative Action Plan of SVG. The project was launched in November of 2017 and is now in the implementation stage.

The purpose of the workshop is to better equip the fishers and vendors to value and appreciate what they do as a meaningful investment and to outline best practices in the management of a small business.

The workshop will take place at the Fisheries conference room, at the Fishing Complex in Kingstown, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Some 30 fishers and vendors will be trained in different aspects of business management. Dougal James of Prime Consulting is the workshop facilitator.
