Rotary Club of St Vincent South promotes love of reading

In partnership with Hands Across the Sea, the Rotary Club of St Vincent South is promoting a love of books and reading by funding new reading books for students at Chateaubelair Methodist Primary School and Petit Bordel Secondary School.

The new books will be delivered to the schools in September, 2017.

Kim Haydock of the Rotary Club of St Vincent South stated, “We are pleased to join Hands Across the Sea to support the libraries of both schools and help raise the literacy levels of the students. We realize that a love of reading creates literate children and an educated community, which is very important to all Rotarians.”

“At Hands Across the Sea, our mission is to give every child on St Vincent access to a lending library of new, exciting, age-appropriate and culturally relevant reading material,” noted Harriet Linskey, executive director of Hands Across the Sea. “Thanks to funding from the Rotary Club of St Vincent South, we will be sending brand new, top-quality books from the world’s leading education and children’s book publishers, including a special Remedial Reading Toolkit for high school students.”
