Two religious colleges registered in SVG

International Accreditation Day, June 9, will be observed for the first time in St Vincent and the Grenadines this year. The Accreditation Unit in the Ministry of Education and the National Accreditation Board (NAB) have organized a series of activities leading up to that date. The registration of two religious colleges on May 11 will mark the beginning of the period of special observation.

The religious colleges to be registered here are the Baptist Bible College of the Caribbean, located in Prospect and Mints St Vincent, located in Arnos Vale. The Baptist Bible College of the Caribbean began its service to the region on February 3, 1953, under its then name, Baptist Bible School, and was located in Ratho Mill.

Mints St Vincent, however, formerly known as The St Vincent and the Grenadines Institute for Theological Education, was officially founded on May 7, 2003 by Dr E Walford Thompson and Dr Isaac A Soleyn (deceased).

The registration ceremony will be held at the campus of the Baptist Bible College of the Caribbean and is expected to begin by 4 p.m. Educator at the Division of Teacher Education at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Dr Godwin James will give the feature address.

The Accreditation Unit will host an “Open House” at the Red Cross Headquarters on June 2. This will be followed by a radio programme on June 4 and the launch of National Accreditation Board’s website on June 9.
