Power couple honeymoons at Pink Sands Resort in Canouan

Weeks after the EC$250 million Glossy Bay Marina opened on the Grenadine island of Canouan, that island is once again back in the news.

The online publication, the Irish Mirror, reported on Tuesday, April 25, that the power couple of Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll had chosen and jetted off to the luxurious Pink Sands Resort in Canouan, following their wedding in Ashford Castle, Co Mayo on Saturday, April 22”.

McIlroy is a Northern Irish professional golfer, who is a member of both the European and PGA Tours. He was world No1 in the Official World Golf Ranking for 95 weeks and is a four-time major champion, winning the 2011 US Open with a tournament record.

The Irish Mirror noted that the couple chose the Canouan luxury resort for their honeymoon, a stay costing €13,000 euros a night.

“They’re reportedly staying at a €100m resort on the exclusive island, which is part-owned by Irish tycoon Dermot Desmond,” said the article.

Desmond, the entrepreneur behind the Glossy Bay Marina, also owns the luxurious Pink Sands Resort that boasts 24 suites, two penthouses, 20 villas, a golf course, a spa, four restaurants and a private beach.

Rory, 27, is no stranger to the media, as earlier this year, he was involved in a public break-up with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.

He is now preparing for his next tournament, The Players Championship, at Sawgrass in Florida, USA, which runs from May 11 to 14.
