FLOW ensuring top class Easter activities

FLOW has made sure that the various Easter festivals, held mainly in the Grenadines, and scheduled to swing off in earnest this weekend, are well positioned to provide top class entertainment and activities.

On Friday, April 7, general manager at FLOW Wayne Hull and Marketing and Corporate Communications officer at the company Nikala Williams invited the organizers of events in Bequia, Union Island and the annual National Awards ceremony to FLOW’s head office in Kingstown, where they signed contracts linking FLOW to these entities.

“Our support and commitment to investment in social, cultural and educational development is signified here today…FLOW is committed right across St Vincent and the Grenadines,” said Hull.

Williams added that FLOW is ensuring that culture and what is true to the people are maintained and supported.

Present at the signing were treasurer of the Bequia Onshore Activities Management Committee Rochelle Tannis, commodore of the Bequia Sailing Club Elric “Aloe” Ragguette, Abdon White of the Union Island Easterval Committee and deputy chief education officer Elizabeth Walker.

Before signing, Tannis said that the Bequia Onshore Activities Management Committee is pleased to partner with FLOW and noted that while last year was spectacular, this year they are expecting things to be even better.

Activities begin today, Thursday, April 13, with a Gospel Fest that will bring together all the churches on Bequia to celebrate Easter and Jesus Christ under the theme “Thankful”.

Tomorrow, Friday, April 14, there will be a swim meet organized by the Bequia United Swim Club and on Saturday, April 15, the gun boat and coconut races will take place, along with a culture fest with pan music. Sunday, April 16, is family day on Lower Bay, with sand castle building and crazy craft sailing. Events culminate on Monday, April 17, with greasy pole, maypole dancing, bun eating competitions, ironman competition and many more activities.

“We are here to preserve culture and tradition on Bequia,” said Tannis.

Also, commenting, Ragguette of the Bequia Sailing Club said that they are grateful for FLOW’s help. He said that they have been holding activities for the last 36 years and FLOW has once again helped them to throw down the hurdles and have the festival.

Registration for the sailing activities began yesterday Wednesday, April 12 at the Frangipani Hotel and continues today, Thursday, April 13. Racers will be briefed this evening Thursday, April 13 at 5.30 p.m. and the regatta begins tomorrow Friday, April 14 with races.

Ragguette said that the Bequia regatta is a big event on the Caribbean calendar and in his opinion is the biggest festival after Vincy Mas.

White, speaking about events on Union Island, said that FLOW has been partnering with them for many years.

“We appreciate the partnership”, stressed White, who added that this year, many of the events carry FLOW’s name.

The nine days of activities in Union Island opened last Sunday with collaboration with groups from Carriacou and Petit Martinique.

The FLOW National Awards was held last Friday at the St Vincent Community College in Glen and deputy chief education officer at the Ministry of Education Elizabeth Walker said that the Ministry appreciates the collaboration, as FLOW helps them recognize the nation’s scholastic achievements.
