PSC appoints two new Permanent Secretaries

The Public Services Commission of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) has appointed Cuthbert Knights and Sandy Peters-Phillips to head two key government ministries.

Knights and Peters-Phillips were earlier this month appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce respectively.

Peters-Phillips has been a public servant for 21 years, with 20 of those being spent in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to being appointed Permanent Secretary, she was director of Foreign Policy and Research. Peters-Phillips replaces Nathaniel Williams, who proceeded on pre-retirement leave on January 3, 2017, he having spent the last 10 years as Permanent Secretary, four of those in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Knights replaces Luis deShong, who also proceeded on pre-retirement leave in January this year. Before being promoted to Permanent Secretary, Knights served as director of Trade. He previously worked in the Ministry of Health as an administrative officer and then hospital administrator.
