ECWI hosts 65th Anniversary with dinner, awards ceremony

The Evangelical Church of the West Indies (ECWI) held a dinner and awards ceremony to culminate 65 days of activities commemorating its 65th Anniversary of ministry in St Vincent and the Grenadines, under the theme “Reflecting on the Past, Renewing the Present, Reaching into the Future.”

The dinner was held last Saturday, December 17, at the Dorsetshire Hill Evangelical Church. Remarks were made by Pastor Carlos Cepeda of the Biabou Evangelical Church, a Cuban pastor/missionary serving the ECWI since 2009.{{more}} He gave brief remarks on the history of the ECWI, which came out of Cuba in 1951, through a missions sending agency “Los Pinos Nuevos,” which was founded in Cuba in 1928 by a Cuban and an American missionary.

National moderator Pastor Wade Carter expressed thanks to all who were present and said it is a good period of time to be able to reflect, evaluate, correct and project.

Awards were presented to 18 retired pastors, long serving pastors and selected leaders. An additional 28 awards were presented to the longest serving male and female in each of the 14 local churches. The ECWI anniversary is celebrated every five years.
