Mental health services recommence at Villa
Following the re-opening ceremony for the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre at Villa on Tuesday, December 6, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment has re-commenced the delivery of mental health services at the original site at Villa.
A release from the Ministry said the residents of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre travelled from Orange Hill back to Villa on Wednesday, December 7, with no reported incidents en route.{{more}}
âThe Ministry thanks the residents of the various communities in North Windward, particularly those in Orange Hill, for hosting the named facility and its residents during the renovations.
âThe Ministry thanks the Commissioner of Police and other officers of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, the Permanent Secretary and staff of Ministry of Transport, Works etc, and the bus owners and operators who all facilitated the transfer of the residents from Orange Hill to Villa.
âThe Ministry is also grateful to the entire staff of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre for their profound patience and understanding during the renovation of the main facility,â the release said.
The renovation of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre, at a cost of just over EC$4 million, was done under the 10th European Development Fund Modernization of the Health Sector project.
