PSU thanks Government for permanent appointment of 110 temporary officers

The Public Service Union (PSU) has thanked the Prime Minister for granting permanent status to 110 temporary officers within the Public Service.

In a letter dated November 8, 2016, general secretary of the PSU Aubrey Burgin said “the PSU wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to you and your Government for this exemplary gesture as we are aware that many of these temporary officers,{{more}} inclusive of Office Attendants have performed with great distinction and commitment to the development not only of the Public Service but to the nation as a whole.

“The PSU is also aware that this significant gesture gives greater job security to these workers who will now become permanent employees which is very important to their tenure of employment.”

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves made the annoucement that 110 temporary workers would be granted permanent status during his address at the Independence Parade on October 27, 2016 at the Victoria Park.
