Vincentians celebrate 37th anniversary of Independence in Northern Ireland

Belfast, NORTHERN IRELAND: The Consulate of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) to Northern Ireland celebrated SVG’s 37th Independence Day on October 27 with traditional fervour and enthusiasm at Ribs and Bibs in Belfast.

The celebrations started with the raising of the national flag, followed by the singing of the national anthem.{{more}}

Yolande Robertson Greene welcomed all Vincentian nationals and invited guests, with consul Dr Stange delivering an address on behalf of the SVG Government, conveying sentiments from Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, Foreign Minister Sir Louis Straker and High Commissioner to the UK Cenio Lewis.

The evening incorporated a cultural programme of music, historical quiz and a banquet, with tourism information kindly provided by the SVG Ministry of Tourism and St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Hotel & Tourism Association (SVGTA), including the recent “Welcome Home” initiative to circulate amongst nationals and the wider community.
