NEMO hosting Caribbean Dewetra Platform workshop
Beginning today, Tuesday, October 18, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), in collaboration with the St Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross Society, the French Red Cross and the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH), will host a two-day training workshop on how to use the Caribbean Dewetra Platform, which is a web-based Geographic Information System Tool.{{more}}
The main objectives of the workshop are:
o To expose participants to the tools and products available on the Dewetra Platform and how they can be used to support impact-forecasting and scenario-based disaster management.
o To provide National Disaster Management Agencies with additional technical support to strengthen their planning and operations.
Twenty-five persons from various governmental and non-governmental organizations involved in the collection, analysis and application of data to improve early warning systems will participate in this workshop
This training is a part of the âCommunity Resilience and Institutional Preparedness in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Lesser Antilles Facing Natural Hazardsâ Project, supported by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) under the Disaster Preparedness Programme (DIPECHO X) 2015-2016 Action Plan.
The Caribbean Dewetra Platform Training Workshop is being held at NEMOâs conference room, Old Montrose, beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day. The workshop will come to an end tomorrow.
