On the local front, the Ministry of Agriculture will, today, Friday, October 14, host an agricultural exhibition as part of World Food Day observation. The exhibition will commence at 10 a.m.

The day’s activities, which will take place at the car park next to the SVG Postal Corporation in Kingstown, will feature agricultural produce, arts, crafts and horticulture, as well as a cultural package. The cultural programme will run from 2 to 5 p.m.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, one of the biggest issues related to climate change is food security. The world’s poorest, many of whom are farmers, fishers and pastoralists, are being hit hardest by higher temperatures and an increasing frequency in weather-related disasters, hence the selection of this year’s theme.
