Rev Nichols announced as Dean of Cathedral Church of St George

The Very Reverend O Samuel Nichols has been appointed as the Rector of the Cathedral Parish of St George and St Andrew and Dean of the Cathedral Church of St George, with effect from September 1, 2016.

The appointment was made by The Right Reverend C Leopold Friday, Bishop of the Diocese of the Windward Islands and announced at a press conference earlier this week.{{more}}

Dean Nichols is a Vincentian and is married to Jenine Lisa (née Regisford) and they have three daughters: Janique, Otisha and Angelique.

He was born to Annette Virginia Nichols and Samuel Aberdeen on May 7, 1971. He attended the Calliaqua Anglican School and the St Vincent Grammar School.

After completing his secondary education, he was employed at the Caribbean Banking Corporation Ltd, now RBTT, before entering Codrington College, Barbados, where he obtained a Bachelor Arts degree in Theology from the University of the West Indies and a Diploma in Pastoral Studies from Codrington College and University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

He was ordained deacon on June 29, 1995 and priest on July 22, 1996. Since his ordination, he has served as assistant curate in the parish of the Holy Trinity, Georgetown; priest in charge of the parish of St Matthew, Biabou and at Christ the King, Carriacou; assistant priest St Georges Cathedral and priest in charge and rector of the parish of St Paul, Calliaqua and St John, Belair. He was appointed Archdeacon of St Lucia on February 1, 2016 and was also vice-principal of Bishop’s College, Kingstown, from 2010 to 2016.

Additionally, he serves as a canon of St George’s Cathedral – Stall of the Venerable Bede, secretary of the Diocesan Synod, secretary of the Diocesan Council, and represents the Diocese of the Windward Islands as a delegate to Provincial Synod and also a member of the Provincial Standing Committee.
