A 2006 cable from the United States Embassy in Bridgetown to the State Department says that Louis Straker, this country’s deputy prime minister renounced his citizenship in the United States.

The cable, made public on Wikileaks was written by Mary Kramer, a former US Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.{{more}}

The bionote to the cable dated October 27, 2006 says “Straker lived in New York for 31 years and previously held US citizenship which he had to renounce to run for public office in St Vincent and the Grenadines…”
