Shooting victim’s girlfriend had bad dream about him

Desiree Williams, the girlfriend of this country’s most recent murder victim, Sorono McKie, was having premonitions about the murder, but did not know what they were related to.

Mckie, 24, was gunned down on Tuesday night at around 8:44 while driving along the Glen public road in a Toyota IST, registration number P5901.{{more}}

Anthony Newbolt, 54, was a passenger in the vehicle and was shot in his leg, but is in a stable condition at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

McKie’s girlfriend, speaking to SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday, said that on Sunday night, she dreamt that her boyfriend and a man she did not recognize were standing in front of each other and the man had a cutlass and McKie was telling her to bring his cutlass.

“He was saying ‘bring my cutlass,’ like he want to defend himself,” said Williams of the first dream. On Monday night, she said that she dreamt that she was looking for McKie, but could not find him.

“It’s like I was seeing something was wrong, a sign and was like he was calling for help, but I didn’t know what it was, but I did tell him about the dreams,” said Williams, who had been living with McKie for over a year, at the time of his death.

She stressed that she was sad and shocked about the way her boyfriend lost his life and she has no idea why someone would want to kill him.

Williams said that she went to sleep early on Tuesday night and sometime after 8 p.m. she received a phone call telling her that Mckie had been shot and had died.

“I was so scared. I went straight to the bathroom and then I went to the area where it happened, but the officers stopped me from seeing the body. I have no idea at all what caused it,” said Williams.

McKie’s death brings to 21 the number of homicides so far this year in St Vincent and the Grenadines. (LC)
