No way lottery process can be rigged – NLA
The way that the various lottery draws are carried out by the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), there is no way that the process can be rigged.
As a matter of fact, the NLA takes their various lottery draws extremely seriously, because if anything goes wrong with the draw, it could severely affect the NLAâs integrity.{{more}}
âThe draw is a very important function,â stressed general manager McGregor Sealey, during a recent press conference at the NLAâs headquarters at Paulâs Avenue.
Sealey said that over the years, there have been instances where persons have accused the NLA of fixing the draws and giving the jackpot to chosen persons, but this is impossible to do.
He stressed that the draws are monitored and carried out by independent auditors, who take over the process of every draw to ensure that standards are maintained.
Explaining how the integrity of draws is maintained, Sealey said that the balls are weighed more than once, during every single draw.
He said the balls are weighed to ensure that no particular number surfaces consistently.
Sealey said that after the main draw is done, the auditors return to the NLA base to make sure that the numbers are entered correctly in the system.
The general manager stressed, âI have been in this organization 32 years and one of the things that I have tried to do is try to maintain the integrity of the NLA.â
Sealey added that anyone who wants to witness a draw can do so, as the NLA is an open and professional organization.
âWhen people say we give it to this and to that, it is far from the truth,â stressed Sealey, who two weeks ago handed over a cheque for EC$242,000 to businessman Wayne Crichton, the latest jackpot winner.(LC)
