NEMO conducts School Safety Hand Off Course in Union Island
The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) and the Ministry of Education, is conducting a School Safety Hand Off Course in Union Island during the period August 29 to 31, 2016.{{more}}
The main objective of this School Safety Hand Off Course is to build capacity in the area of school safety in the Southern Grenadines, by increasing the cadre of teachers and other stakeholders trained as School Safety Instructors to assist with teaching this programme nationally and regionally, a release from NEMO said.
This School Safety Hand Off course is the final stage in a series of school safety courses held with teachers from pre-schools, primary schools, the Union Island Secondary School and members of the different community groups in Union Island, Mayreau and Canouan.
The School Safety Hand Off Course is taking place at the Union Island Secondary, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The course will be facilitated by Cecil Shillingford, USAID/OFDA â Disaster Risk Reduction consultant and Andrew Bramble, Ministry of Education.
