Investigation into fatal crash still ongoing
The vehicle accident in which 17-year-old student Kiara Tiara Shortte lost her life is still under investigation.
The Public Relations and Complaints Department of the Police told SEARCHLIGHT yesterday that so far, no one has been charged in relation to the deadly incident.{{more}}
On Friday, August 19, around 3 a.m., the black SUV in which the teenager was a passenger went over an embankment at the Hopewell public road in the Mesopotamia Valley. Kiara died on the spot.
The vehicle, P 782, owned and driven by 50-year-old David Charles of Sayers, had two other occupants, Kiaraâs cousin, Crystal Shortte, 20 years old and Albert âBatâ Williams, 59 years old of Freeland, Mesopotamia.
Charles broke his left leg and Williams fractured two of his ribs in the accident. Williams and Crystal have been released from the MCMH, while Charles is still hospitalized.(LC)
