The merit scholarships are valued at $1,200 annually for forms one through three, following which it would increase to $1,400, which would continue until the recipients have completed their tenure at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.
The needs based scholarship is valued at $500 annually.
The association also offered 10 bursaries in the sum of $150 to students who performed well in the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA).
In brief remarks, president of the SVBLA Camille Crichton said she is happy to see that males outdid the females this year. She noted that this is the first year 10 bursaries were awarded, adding that more students did well in exams this year, which she said shows great things.
She encouraged students to work hard and encouraged parents get students off their Ipads and to encourage them to use their textbooks.(AS)
