While many persons use their personal transport to get to the venue, the Vincy Day USA Committee has disclosed that fifteen 55-seater buses are expected to leave New York for Long Island, while persons travelling from places like Pennsylvania, Boston, Washington and as far as Canada are also coming in buses and cars.
The dayâs event, while not being hinged to any strict or special activity, will have a programme, beginning from around midday, which will feature some of the major components of Vincy culture.
According to a release from the Vincy Day USA Committee, âPersons can expect a number of surprises with some very popular list of new performers this year expected, as we mark the fifth edition of the memorable day.â
Meanwhile, the organizing committee has asked that persons continue to adhere to the rules governing the event, one of which is that absolutely no vending is allowed in the park. They have therefore urged persons to bring along their own amenities.
âFollowing up from last year, we have tried to rectify issues⦠We will like to emphasize the need for persons to walk with their own tables and chairs, as itâs not possible with the large crowd to have enough for everyoneâ¦.We are looking forward to a great day,â vice-chair of the Vincy Day USA Committee Colin Liverpool pointed out.
It was declared that over 10,000 persons attended last yearâs Vincy Day.
Prior to Vincy Day, the committee will this Saturday, August 13, hold its annual Pre-Vincy Day USA Food Sale.
This will be at Friends of Crown Heights, located at 1435 Prospect Place, between Utica and Rochester Avenues. Among the delicacies on the menu are breadfruit, callaloo soup, pelau, souse, ground provisions, barbeque chicken and pork, stewed chicken, cod fish, fried fish, sorrel, ginger beer, mauby and more.(RT)
