CIBC FirstCaribbean throws support behind volcano hike
Persons living with HIV/AIDS in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) will benefit from the proceeds of a charity event supported by a local commercial bank. CICB FirstCaribbean has thrown its support behind a local events group, which has organized a charity hike to La Soufrière volcano.
The Ultimate Cross Country Challenge, which will see hikers ascend the active volcano from the windward and leeward sides of the country, then descend on the opposite side, is set to take place on Emancipation Day, Monday, August 1.{{more}}

Proceeds from the hike will go towards the provision of care packages for HIV/AIDS affected persons in the country.
Stacia Thomas, event planner for All Access Events, said that the hike to the volcano is geared toward bringing families and communities closer together, while promoting a healthy lifestyle and providing for others in need.
âWeâre doing this so that, among other things, people can get outdoors and take on one of the most challenging feats that could be accomplished on the island.
âIn doing so, they would also be supporting a worthy cause by giving to persons who are affected by HIV and AIDS.
âWe hope to make this an annual event and we thank CIBC FirstCaribbean for assisting us. We are expecting a great turnout.â
Jacintha Hinds, CIBC FirstCaribbeanâs Business Support officer and Employee Engagement champion, said that the institution was always happy to support healthy lifestyles and provide for others in need.
âWe at CIBC FirstCaribbean find great pleasure in donating to events of this sort and hope that many persons would play a part in making the event a successful one,â she added.
