Rev Nichols celebrates 20 years of priesthood
The Reverend Otis Samuel Nichols will celebrate 20 years of his ordination to the holy priesthood today, Friday, July 22, with a church service at St Paulâs Anglican Church, Calliaqua, beginning at 5 p.m.
After being ordained to the sacred priesthood on July 22, 1996, the Feast of Mary Magdalene, Canon Nichols served at different times in the Diocese of the Windward Islands in the capacity of assistant curate,{{more}} priest with oversight and priest-in-charge of Holy Trinity in Georgetown, St Matthew in Biabou, St George and St Andrew in Grenada and Christ the King with St Francis in Carriacou. Currently he is the rector of St Paul with St John, to whom he says he owes a debt of gratitude.
Additionally, he serves as Canon of St Georgeâs Cathedral stall of the Venerable Bede, secretary of Diocesan Synod, secretary of Diocesan Council, member of the Provincial Standing Committee and is a former deputy principal of Bishopâs College Kingstown. His interactions spanning such diverse groupings can be very challenging, but time has given him the experience, confidence and trust in God to meet those demands. Additional experiences and education gained at the Codrington College in Barbados, the United Kingdom and South Africa have equipped him beyond the certificates he received for the complex functions he has to perform. They have made him a believer in himself, in the goodness of humanity and the infinite love of God.
Canon Nichols is married to Jenine Lisa (née Regisford). They have three daughters, Janique, Otisha, and Angelique.
The public is invited to attend this afternoonâs celebration mass.
