Man Zangie says thank you to Digicel
Reigning calypso Monarch Zamphir âMan Zangieâ Adams is thanking telecommunications company Digicel for its contribution to his historic win at the 2016 staging of the National Calypso Monarch competition.
Man Zangie, who on Wednesday stopped by Digicelâs main office to present a token of appreciation to Digicelâs management and staff,{{more}} said although he approached the company just a few weeks before his big performance on July 3, he is truly appreciative of the fact that the company grasped at the opportunity to lend him some much needed assistance.
Man Zangie said being able to etch his name in the history books of St Vincent and the Grenadines was partly as a result of the support received from Digicel. Man Zangie is said to be the first artiste to win the National Calypso Monarch crown three times in a row in 39 years, since Vincy Mas changed from the pre-Lenten season to June/July.
The calypsonian wowed the crowd and captivated the judges at the Calypso Monarch competition with his renditions of âFaith in Hairouna,â and âAccess Denied,â to secure the top spot in this yearâs National Calypso competition at Carnival City, Victoria Park on Sunday, July 3.
According to the Calypso Monarch, he was able to bring his two songs to life with the financial and other support received from Digicel, during his preparation for the big night.
The reigning Calypso Monarch said it is his hope that Digicel will continue to support him throughout the rest of the year, as he puts things in place to defend his crown during Vincy Mas 2017.
Additionally, Man Zangie said persons can expect to see even more diversity from him as an artiste during the 2017 Carnival festivities, as he intends to branch off to singing Ragga and Power Soca.
Meanwhile, Digicelâs head of Mobile Operations, Dionne Emtage, said she had no doubt that Man Zangie would retain his calypso crown and encouraged the young artiste to continue seeking creative ways to enhance the quality of his music and performances.
