Imani Pre School, Hanifah Day Care host Career Day
The Imani Pre-School and Hanifah Day Care held their Career Day on Friday, June 17.
The children were dressed in different outfits representing a broad cross-section of professions in our society, for example: the legal fraternity was represented by a judge, magistrate and police officer;{{more}} representing health care were doctors and nurses; there were preachers, teachers, firemen, airline workers, a construction worker, basketball player and a businessman.
It was exciting to see all these professional young people gathered in the same place.
The day started with devotion, followed by a pep talk to the children by Inspector Hawkins Nanton of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF). He spoke to them about their chosen careers and their goals in life. He also had a sing-along with the children, which was good fun.
During the course of the day the coordinator/ supervisor Sheverne Cain organized settings for the children to demonstrate how things work in their profession; for example, a court scene with the judge, police, lawyer and someone in the dock. The children demonstrated a good understanding of how things work. It was a fun filled day.
According to the Cain, children should be nurtured to reach for the stars and be good citizens of SVG and wherever they may go.
The Imani Pre-school/Hanifah Day Care is located at the corner of Webb Street and the Leeward Highway, New Montrose.
