Windsor has three students in top 10

Head teacher of the Windsor Primary School Carol Smith says she is excited that for yet another year, pupils of the school are in the top 10 of the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA).

This year, three of the school’s pupils placed among the top 10 performers, one of whom secured the second position overall. The school also recorded 100 per cent passes which Smith said is usual for the institution.{{more}}

The three top Windsor pupils are: Matthew Washington, who placed second overall and second for boys; Akayla Crichton, who placed eight overall and third for girls; and Rio Connell, who placed eight overall and fourth for boys.

“I feel happy that I placed in the top 10,” 11-year-old Crichton told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday when we visited the school. She added that a lot of work was put into her exam preparation adding that her parents Akelia Crichton and Akym Duncan were instrumental in this process.

Crichton, a Sion Hill resident, said she wants to become a Chemist, adding that she would be attending the Girls’ High School at the beginning of the new school year.

Connell however, said his dream is to become a chef, disclosing that he grows cabbage, chive, eggplants, tomatoes and other vegetables which he sells to local supermarkets.

When asked how he feels about his performance in the examinations, he replied, “I feel very proud of myself,” adding that his parents and some friends assisted with his studies.

Connell, the son of Grant and Kim Connell disclosed that he would be attending the St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua for his secondary education because he believes that the other schools have lost prestige over the years.

Commenting on his son’s choice, Grant stated that he supports his son’s decision.(AS)
