Vincentian entrepreneur wins prestigious award
One of St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ young ICT entrepreneurs has successfully contended in the annual Caribbean Innovation Challenge, held in the Dominican Republic.
The competition was held in June 10 – 11 at the Barcelo Hotel in Santo Domingo, Cenus Hinds of Layou gained the prestigious award when he effectively pitched his business Konservi, an online mobile application to the judges,{{more}} investors as well as to the general public. This 20-year-old is continuously seeking opportunities for growth and development of his business venture. He is currently an incubatee within the SVGNCTI ICT Business Incubation Programme, funded by the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines through the Caribbean Regional Infrastructure Programme (CARCIP).
The Caribbean Innovation Competition 2015-2016 is a regional support programme and startup accelerator for CARICOM nationals seeking to take their Entrepreneurial Initiatives to the Market. The CIC is open to aspiring business owners as part of the Caribbean Regional Entrepreneurial Asset Commercialization Hub (REACH*) Programme. The competition awards projects are in two Categories: Creative Industries and Technology Commercialization.
The CIC finalist teams will move to the next round of competition. They now have one month to prepare their presentations to compete live at the CIC Finals, Expo and Awards Ceremony in June, 2016. Winners will receive an award package that includes: US$5,000 seed capital, access to investors and resources, follow up services and the unique opportunity to be part of the Leadership Links Network, a platform for young entrepreneurs to be part of global and high levels events receiving wide international visibility.
