I want to become Prime Minister – CPEA 10th placed Iyasa Stapleton

Iyasa Stapleton, a Redemption Sharpes youth who placed within the top 10 performers of the recent Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) says he wants to become Prime Minister.

Stapleton, who is the son of Denesa Stapleton and Vincent Pompey, on Tuesday not only put Lodge Village Government School on the radar, but also caught the attention of reporters when he announced that he would like to become a politician.{{more}}

The young man added that the opportunity to help people has always interested him.

“I want to make the country better,” he said.

Stapleton’s teacher also noted that this has been his goal since Grade 2.

The soft-spoken youth secured the seventh position for boys and placed 10th overall.

“I think throughout his school life he has been top of his class, he’s an excellent student,” head teacher of the school June Russell commented.

Stapleton, the third of five children, says he looks up to President of the United States Barrack Obama.

He also thanked the teachers and head teacher of the Lodge Village Government School who he says encouraged him to do better.

Stapleton’s journey to the House of Assembly resumes at the beginning of the new school year when he begins his secondary education at the St Vincent Grammar School.(AS)
