Coast Guard summer programme registration forms now available

Registration forms are now available from the Coast Guard Base, Calliaqua for the annual Youth Development Summer Programme put on by the SVG Coast Guard Service in association with the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Sagicor Inc.

The programme, which will run from July 11 to August 20 will be conducted at the Coast Guard Base, Calliaqua and will be held in three phases under the theme “Shaping our youths for life’s high seas.”{{more}}

Phase One will run from July 11 – 19; phase two from July 25 to August 2 and phase three from August 8 to 16. The closing ceremony will be held on August 20.

The Youth development Summer Programme is aimed at: Exposing participants to basic leadership skills and personnel development; Providing participants with information on the Coast Guard as a possible career choice and with information on services offered by the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Sagicor Inc.; Exposing participants to Safety at Sea, Navigation, Knots and Splices, Boat Handling, Swimming and Life Saving, Conflict Resolution, Energy Conservation, Sexual reproductive Health and Rights, Human Sexuality, Personal Development and Nutrition. Participants will also be engaged in Team Building Exercises, treasure Hunts and Community Projects.
